Andrew "Walt" Pickrell

PRESIDENT

"Walt" as he is known by most in the rugby world hails from Kingsburg, CA. Walt was a kinesiology major at Fresno State. He has served previously on the Club's Board of Directors as Club Secretary and Social Chair before his unanimous selection to serve as the Club's President last year. Walt was choosen by the club to sever  club president for second term this year. Walt has been playing rugby with Fresno since 2001. In 2007, Walt was selected to the Northern California Pelicans and played with the Pacific Coast Grizzlies in the National All Star Championships. By day Walt works in the kitchen as a caterer. Walt is also a trainer at Athletic Preformance  (in Clovis). Walt started serving on the Fresno State Men's Rugby Club coaching staff as a forwards coach during the 2010-2011 season. He continues to work with the Fresno State Men's Club.  Last season Walt  worked as the one of the Fresno Rugby coaches and helped lead Fresno to its third National Final Four.

 

John Richardson

RECRUITMENT CHAIR

John is in his third season with the Club. "Friar" John  as the boys call him, was the club's Rookie of the Year in 2010.  John has a great excitement for the game, and works to promote the game wherever and whenever he can.  John is a graduate of Buchanan High in Clovis. John went on to earn his degree from Fresno Pacific University and then a Masters from the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary. John is a high school Pastor for Northside Church, in Clovis.  John first gained exposure to rugby while doing missionary work in South Africa. John has been a great ambassador for the sport and the Club. John and his wife Sara live in Fresno.

   

Dan Wilson

TREASURER

Dan is a Fresno Rugby veteran who's been with the club for 21 years. In the past, Dan played one season with Monterey, and a season of 7s for the NorCal Pelicans. Dan has also been a certified referee for four years, and has refereed many of the local youth and college rugby games.  Before taking on the role of treasurer for the club, Dan has previously served on the club's board as the club's president. Dan is an alumni of Fresno State where he received his degree in History, before going on to earn a Master's in Organizational Behavior from Alliant International University(formerly California School of Professional Psychology) and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Dan works in pharmaceutical sales. Dan, his wife, and thier children reside in Fresno.

   

Ahmad Bahrami

SECRETARY

"The Zohan" or just Zo as he is know by they club is in his fourth year with the Club. This is his third term as Secretary for the Club. The Zohan received his undergraduate degree from Fresno State in Criminology, then went on to earn an MBA with focus in Human Resources, from the University of Phoenix, and is currently completing a doctorate in Organizational Development from Alliant International University. The Zohan is a program manager for Kings County.  The addition of Zo to the board has brought the club a decade of non-profit and community relations experience as it works to fulfill its commitments as a non-profit and increase visibility of both the club and the sport. Zohan and his wife Susan live in Fresno.

   

John Marchini

FUNDRAISING CHAIR

John or the "Merlin" as he is known by the club members has played four years of rugby off and on over the past nine years. He initially began playing rugby while attending UCLA, and logged in two season with the Bruins. He also played a season after college for Santa Monica Rugby Club. Last year Merlin joined Fresno Rugby after being away from the game for a few years. Merlin attended UCLA and received a degree in Political Science. Currently, Merlin works for a marketing and public relations company here in Fresno, called Catalano Fenske & Associates. Merlin works primarily with local businesses, schools, non-profits and the City of Fresno. Merlin and his wife Toni live in Fresno.  Merlin is an area native and is glad to be back in Fresno!  

   

Barry Foley

OLD BOYS CHAIR

Barry has been heading up the Fresno Old Boys Association for a number of years. Last year the Old Boys Association was brought under the offical umbrella of the Club.  In addition to heading up the Old Boys Association, Barry spearheaded the resurrection of the men's rugby at Fresno State and has now developed a Fresno State women's rugby club. Barry was the first coach of the Fresno State Women's Rugby Club.

Barry has been with Fresno Rugby since 1983.  Barry also has previous experience on the Club's Board as President, Treasurer, Secratary, and Social Chair and bring a wealth of knowledge to the board.  Barry has a BS degree in Agricultural Business from Fresno State, and has been in the Ag Business for 25 years.  

   

Brad Larsen

SOCIAL CHAIR

Brad is entering his third season with the club. While fairly new to rugby, Brad has a great athletic background. Brad was an stand out soccer player in high school (Central High School) and then later at Fresno City College. Brad has a degree in Finance from Fresno State, and is currently working on his Master's in Business Administration from the Sid Craig School of Business (Fresno State). Brad will be serving on the club's board for the first time. He and his wife Ashley reside in Fresno.
